Facebook Apps - how annoying

facebook - 95 other requestsFacebook is starting to annoy me. Don’t get me wrong, I love Facebook, and I spend a lot of time on it. When I compare it to other social networking sites, it’s still in first place by miles. However, Facebook applications are getting out of hand.

I’m not saying that I haven’t installed any applications on my Facebook account, and I definitely don’t think that they are ALL annoying. he only Facebook application that I actually use regularly is the twitter plugin. When I twitter, this application automatically updates my Facebook status to whatever I twittered. Simple and brilliant.

Anyway, I have decided to see how many “other requests” I can gather, just for the hell of it.

For those of you who don’t enjoy these “other requests”, check out this video:

How to Block Facebook Applications

By the way… who the hell wastes hours of their life building an application called “Human Pets”???

One Response to “Facebook Apps - how annoying”

Couldn’t agree with you more. The only applications I have are Twitter, Big Photo, and Packrat.

Pack rat is pretty cool, it was created from the guys behind thebignoob and iconbuffet. When I met these guys at Web Directions, they said simply that Facebook is huge opportunity for developers to get mass exposure and go viral, but there biggest complaint was the same all of us have: 95% of the apps are absolute garbage. The app they’ve put together is a great example at how a Facebook application doesn’t have to spam like crazy to be effective and fun. It only notifies people when something important happens, and it puts limits on the amount of friends you can invite at once. The Facebook UI is perfectly replicated, and there’s no ads whatsoever. I’d recommend installing it, don’t even play it but just look at how they avoid so many of the *annoying pitfalls of other applications.

and no I don’t make money off installations.. but I do want to steal your items when you sign up ;)
