It's like, Should I bother learning PHP/MySQL or just jump into the Rails half knowing that Rails is doing stuff I don't know how to do. Who knows... Although I'm reading them both at the same time, I'm more active in PHP as I want to understand what all this fancy Rails Magic is "actually" doing. I think "convention over configuration" is great, just as long as you've done some form of configuration before. And on top of all this it's not just Rails and PHP that got me, it's the holy trinity of Flex/AIR/AS that have my attention too. I've got three books half read, calling my name, and no time to read them. Life is good ;) I'm thinking my next book will be on speed reading. My life exactly.
